THE AFTER PICTURES (LOGAN'S FIRST HAIRCUT)

A WORD ABOUT LOGAN'S FIRST HAIRCUT FROM HIS MOMMY
Logan was awesome on the day he got his first haircut. Both he and Ella are always awesome, but that's beside the point. After months of thinking about getting his haircut and chickening out, I finally held my breath, swooped him up, packed him and Ella into the car and headed down to our local Hair Cuttery Salon not giving myself enough time to talk myself out of it as I had done every single day this week.

It was early in the morning and the kids were fresh from just having woken up and eaten a nice full breakfast. We arrived at the salon (which is inside of a mall) and my favorite hairstylist (named Haymi) was there. Haymi has done my hair on and off for almost five years, so I knew Logan would be in great hands. Afterall, she is a stylist that when you tell her you only want an inch taken off, she takes off about three inches.

I put a drape around myself and then Haymi placed one on Logan. She gave Ella a Lollipop for being a good girl and for sitting in the chair across from us patiently watching Logan get his first haircut. She asked me how short I wanted it and I told her "as close to the scalp as possible". She said she could cut his hair without using clippers/shears. I was elated! And I totally trust her, so there were absolutely no issues.

She took her tiny scissors and cut as much of his afro off as she could and as it fell to the floor, I sighed and asked if I could take as much of his hair home as a souvenir. Haymi replied "Of course" and her assistant gave us an envelope to collect most of his hair.

Logan just chilled in the chair. It almost seemed to relax him. I asked for a lollipop for him to hold and they obliged my request. Logan is so laid back and has such a chill attitude and in turn, this made for a laid back and chill experience for both him and me, his Mom!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LOGAN!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LOGAN!

My Birthday weekend was fun filled. My parents decided to have a small celebration for me at home. My Uncle Albert was in town from Cleveland visiting for a business conference and was able to join in our celebration.

The weekend began with my very first haircut. Mommy will be posting "Before" and "After" Pictures for your enjoyment. The following day, my friend Elisa had a nice birthday party for her first year. She is 2 days older than me. Mommy will also post pictures of Elisa's Birthday Party. Ella and I always enjoy spending time with her and her big brother Dani. The entertainment was fun. I got to play with maraccas, stars on a stick and jump on a trampoline (aka make shift moon bounce). And I got to play along side of other one year olds and kids my sister's age. It was so much fun!

The last day of my first birthday weekend, we all packed up with my Uncle Albert and went to Daily Grill in Georgetown for Brunch where I enjoyed a lot of fresh watermelon, fresh oranges, scrambled eggs and bran muffins. After brunch we went to the Montrose Park adjacent to the Dumbarton Oaks Estate in Georgetown and went on a nice thirty minute hike. Well, that is, my parents, Uncle Albert and Ella went walking while I was able to enjoy the beautiful scenery from the comforts of my Joovy Stroller. Then we went to the Playground at the Park where I was able to walk around on a softly padded area, go swinging next to Ella and then ride on the Pony Merry Go Round.

That evening, Mommy and Daddy invited the neighbors over to meet Uncle Albert for a "Cocktail Hour" where everyone enjoyed appetizers, beverages and chocolate cake that Uncle Albert bought in my honor. It was a nice birthday indeed.

Logan is 11 Months Old

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! I turned 11 months old today and there's been a lot of nice changes since the last time I posted. I officially have my first four teeth! I started cutting my teeth around December 8th, but it's taken an entire four weeks to come in all the way. I'm so happy because I can eat even more solid food now. I love eating solid food. In fact, I don't enjoy eating my pureed baby food that much at all anymore. And I am determined to feed myself. I like to push Mommy and Daddy's hand away when they try to feed me. I'm a big boy now. I'm also walking with confidence. I still prefer to do some crawling. I've developed a hybrid technique of walking on my knees. I've gotten pretty good at it. I've been walking on my knee caps for about two months now. Mommy just cracks up every time she sees me do it. But, it works for me.

Ella and I are becoming even closer. My first word was "Ella". I have a routine every morning. I wake up. Mommy changes my diaper, takes me out of my pajamas and puts me in my "day outfit" and then I "knee walk" to Ella's room, push open her door and say her name. That always does the trick. She wakes up immediately. Then, she follows me back into the living room and we begin playing with our toys.

Grandma Talan bought us a very nice kids sofa for Christmas and Ella and I enjoy lounging on that every morning while Mommy prepares breakfast. We enjoy jumping up and down, drinking water from our sippy cups and sometimes an occasional bottle of milk.

My favorite things to do? Eating, playing with Ella, pushing my toy cars around and practicing my walking skills.

Logan is 10 Months Old!

I can hardly believe I'm going to be a year old in 2 months. I am having a great time! I'm cruising all over the place on my hands and knees and on my feet. My two bottom teeth have emerged and are almost all the way out. I feel the need to grin even more now. I've become really attached to my big sister Ella. I look for her every morning I wake up and if she's not awake yet, I make sure to crawl to her room and push her door open. If that doesn't do the trick, I squeal or screech until she wakes up. I still have somewhat of a predictable schedule. I take a mid morning nap for about 30 minutes and then I don't take my mid afternoon nap unless I'm 100% positive that Ella is down for her nap as well. I prefer to be awake when she's awake. I really love playing with her and making sure she's settled and happy before I'm able to rest. She really enjoys playing a couple of games with me: "I'm going to Get You" and "Hide and Seek" and "Get Out of my Room or else I'm going to close the door on you". She's a bowl of fun and giggles.

Ella's pretty protective of me as well. She always makes sure that Mommy and Daddy know to "check on me" if she hears me stirring anytime during the day or night. She also looks out to make sure I'm not picking up lint, crumbs or stuff that I shouldn't be putting in my mouth as I'm crawling around and exploring.

Ella offers me toys that she is no longer interested in playing with in exchange for any of the toys she seems me playing with. Sometimes I get upset when she takes toys from me, but most of the time I'm fine just looking around for other toys to play with. Overall, we enjoy being together and I think she is the BEST Sister I could ever have!

Logan is 9 Months Old

I've been pulling myself up to a standing position all by myself this month. I just started cruising around the furniture and trying to take my first steps. Mommy thought it would be a fun idea to take me and Ella to the Lyon Village Park here in Clarendon and take some pictures of us playing in the freshly fallen autumn leaves. Mommy really enjoys taking pictures of us as much as possible.
