I'm 10 Weeks Old and Growing

Life for Mommy and Daddy has gotten soooooo much easier! I'm a breeze to take care of!  I've been sleeping between 6 and 8 hours a night for about two weeks now. One night out of the blue, I just decided I was going to have a consistent bedtime and that was that. I typically fall asleep around 11:30 pm or at the latest midnight. It suits Daddy well because he's a night owl and it suits Mommy well because she's a getting up at the crack of the dawn kinda gal.
There's a trade-off for my parents though. They have to take me places and keep me entertained more often during the day now. I want to stay awake now during the day. I don't really like taking naps and will fuss and fuss until I wear myself out. I don't like missing the action! I manage to grab two thirty minute cat naps a day and sometimes I'll even nap for a full hour. During my naps, I can hear Mommy scurrying to get a quick bite, practice Yoga, wash dishes and fold up laundry.
I am definitely smiling back at you if you smile at me. I love people. I'm very outgoing, happy and social.  I'm also beginning to coo and gurgle a lot. Mommy thinks that I've already said two words "Hi" and "Nooooo". She tries daily to capture on video. Good Luck Mommy!
More and more people are saying that I look like a "definitive combination" of my parents. But, I think the majority of people are leaning towards wearing "Team Mommy" t-shirts. What do you think?

I'm going on my first international trip this November. Yay! We're going to Paris. I just found out I have to get a Passport in order to go. What? Do I have to get my picture taken too? Babies change so much! I can't imagine I'll look anything like I do now in 3 more months. Ridiculous. Let's do some practice shots, shall we? Ah! This one is my favorite. This is about the best headshot you're going to get from me today. This is better than the one they took at the Passport Picture Studio. People say I'm beginning to look more like Daddy in this picture.

I am 6 Weeks Old and Loving it

I am on a nice growth spurt this week.  I eat every other hour on the hour like clock work. Mommy says she can tell what time it is according to my cry. She knows my hunger cries from my wet and tired cries.
I've been smiling now for about two weeks, although they're normally when I'm gassy. Shhh! Don't tell my parents that. They've been trying to capture it on film and for some time now. They think it's because they're making funny faces at me.
I've also started producing spit bubbles that look like raspberries. I'm having a lot of fun drooling. My pediatrician believes I'm going to become an "early teether".
I had my first official "baby manicure" this week. Oh it was awesome! I slept thru the whole thing! Mommy was gently filing my nails with an emery board up until now. I've definitely inherited her naturally long nails. But, today she used the baby nail clippers and trimmed all of my nails. Note to other babies out there reading: So easy! Don't freak out, just go to sleep. LOL.

I'm also getting used to sitting in my Papasan. I'd rather be walked in my parents arms, but I am getting used to sitting in this for about ten minutes--as long as it doesn't have the vibrate thing on or the music. I'll start fussing if they turn that stuff on!

My First Day Home

Everyone was really happy. My Grammy Huesca was there taking care of my parents while they took care of me. Mommy still had a ton of energy left, but me and Daddy slept most of the time.

Welcome to the World Ella

Ella Yana Talan was born on Thursday, June 5th 2008 at exactly 12 Noon via C-section.
I was 19 inches and weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces.
Mommy's First Thoughts were: "She looks just like a Huesca!" (That's my Granddad Huesca's side of the family)
Daddy's First Thoughts were: "Who the heck does she look like? Does she look more like me or her mommy or does she look like either one of us or neither one of us?"
You decide. Who do you think she looks like?

Moments before my arrival

My mommy wasn't nervous at all to go thru with the scheduled c-section. Look how happy she was!

Meet My Parents

I am the first child for my proud parents, David and Angelica Talan.
They met 17 years ago at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green Ohio. They were together for over a decade before tying to the knot in New York City's Central Park (Ladies Pavillion) in October, 2005.
I couldn't have come at a better time in their lives. (giggle)
