Sunny San Diego 2011

Mommy and Daddy took us on an airplane ride to San Diego. Daddy had a business trip out there. While we were there we all went to the big San Diego Zoo, The Children's Museum, Balboa Park to see a puppet show about Cinderella and to two different beaches (La Jolla and Mission Beach). We saw Sea Lions and Seals on the beach! We also enjoyed lunch at Rubio's, a very popular local fast food restaurant. At the zoo, we took a gondola ride and saw the Elephant Odyssey exhibit and also a wild peacock bird. The weather was very nice and warm. It was sunny every day. Logan and I saw palm trees and the beach every single day.

Mommy took us to the Children's Museum while Daddy was at his conference. They had different stations set up so we could play. There was a Bubble Station where we made bubbles with different pipe cleaners and our hands. There was a Block Station where Logan and I built a house and a city using the blocks. There was a place where we could pretend we were shopping at a store with grocery carts. But mine and Logan's favorite station was where we could build with clay and paint a big rock purple with our smocks on and a paint brush! We didn't want to leave! Logan cried when it was time to leave. We stayed at the paint station until the museum closed. It was such a nice vacation! We drove from San Diego to Los Angeles and to Santa Barbara and back to Los Angeles and San Diego. More pictures to come from those two cities!

Memorial Day Week in Ohio

Since I was born, my parents decided to make it a tradition to visit my grandparents in their home state of Ohio every year either before the Memorial Day Weekend or the week following Memorial Day. For my first two Memorial Day weekends, we were able to get both sets of my Grandparents together along with my aunt and uncle and some of our cousins and Grandma Talan's neighbors to celebrate my birthday at Grandma Talan's house. This time was a little different, but I didn't mind. We enjoyed a nice birthday cake that Grandma made. Pictures in my next posting.

This year going back to Ohio was even more special because we were able to meet Riley Wileman. He is the son of my Mommy's (bestie since grade school) friend Monica. He celebrated his FIRST birthday party in Wauseon--a town near my Mommy's home town of Napoleon. While we visited Grandma and Grandpa Huesca and Aunt Antasia, we went to really nice park in Napoleon. It had little wooden tractors and barns and fun little things to play with.

Mommy also was able to reunite with one of her college besties Valerie. She brought all three of her sons all the way from Columbus to Grandma Talan's house in Cleveland to see us. She even packed a really nice picnic basket! Daddy had a fantastic idea and took us all to the beach. That's right! There's a couple of "beaches" in the Cleveland area. The one we went to was called Rocky River Park. They had a nice sunny and warm beach as well as shaded area for our picnic and a sunny and semi-shaded playground area. We had a lot of fun! Here is a picture of all of us from the back sitting on a log and over looking Lake Erie. The picture idea was Val's, but Mommy loves taking pictures--so she snapped a few too. I liked this one best because Logan is holding onto Val's baby son Ben. So cute!

Grandma Talan and Uncle Albert found these tricycles for me and Logan to play with. We had fun! Grandma Talan is recovering from surgery to remove a cancerous tumor in her bile duct. She just finished her chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Daddy says she is doing very well. She seemed very happy and healthy to all of us. She was mowing the lawn and trimming all the scrubs and bushes when we got there. She's back to her normal self--busy as ever and creating projects for herself to keep busy. Here are my three favorite pictures with Grandma Talan. Logan is crying in one of them. That's okay though. He just wanted to know where Mommy was going. He's a real Mommy's boy and I'm a big Daddy's girl too.

Ella's First Haircut

Today, I got my FIRST haircut and Logan got his SECOND haircut. As you can tell, it didn't go very well. Watching Logan get his haircut didn't make it easier for me either. He was a little fussy and two lollipops later, our hairstylist had cut her fingers using the very sharp scissors to trim Logan's hair. I wanted to RUN. But, Mommy convinced me to stay by bribing me with lollipops and ice cream. As soon as our hairstylist came up to me and squirted the water bottle on my hair, I knew I wasn't in control of this situation. This agonizing event was finally over in about 15 minutes. I'm a little bit of a crier anyway, so exercising my lungs and screeching at the top of my lungs was absolutely no big deal for me--even if it was embarrassing to the hairstylist and caused alarm for the patrons that were packed into the salon. Mommy just smiled at me and tried to tell me how much "fun" it is and reminded me I would get icecream afterward. And we did get ice cream and burritos at Chevy's Restaurant with my aunt Antasia. And I actually LOVE my new hairstyle. It makes me very happy!

April 2011

April was a great month for us. Our cousins Jack, Darlene and Jonathan Gilberg were in town from New Bremen Ohio to visit us. Our aunt Antasia was also in town to celebrate her birthday and Easter with us. The weather was perfect spring weather and we visited the playground at Lyon Village park on a daily basis.

Baby Emma also celebrated her First birthday! She had her birthday party at our favorite party venue--MOBU Kids. Grandma Huesca bought the little suit for Logan for Christmas, so this was the perfect occassion to break it out. Emma seemed to like it.

Logan is 13 Months Old

Hi! It's me Ella! March was a very social month for us. Logan turned 13 months old. He is walking very well. He also follows me around all the time. Every morning Mommy vacuums the floor. Logan and I really enjoy helping Mommy too. So, we take our toy vacuum cleaner and help her clean our floors. But before we clean, we eat breakfast. Logan has started throwing his food down on the floor when he's finished. He really likes this play game. And he's starting to talk a lot too. I'm the only one who understands what he's saying. I really like to let Mommy and Daddy know what he's saying. For instance, if my parents feed me grapes and Logan baby food, I let my parents know that "Logan wants some grapes too". They both laugh and tell me "how funny" I am.

We began a new tradition of getting together with "Baby Emma" for weekly playdates. Our first official playdate with her and her mommy Inger began at the Cheesecake Factory. Emma and my Logan are only a couple months apart. Aren't they cute? Oh, she's the one in her trademark headband. We also had a monthly playdate with our friend Aidan Harrington. He's exactly four weeks younger than my brother Logan. He is a very happy baby. That's him sitting on the floor while Logan is walking behind him. He hasn't learned to walk yet.

We had a visit from our cousins from New Bremen--The Gilbergs. That's Jordan holding Logan. Jordan is a really nice cousin! He played with us a lot and gave us a lot of attention. We love him!

Our friend Alexander had a Birthday this month too. He turned 3 years old. There's a picture of him surrounded by me and another 3 year old friend of his. There's also a picture of his little sister Amelia and Logan trying to escape from the party to go take a break from all the festivities. Luckily, Mommy and Daddy caught them before they left the party. We got a picture of their backs.

It's still cold here. We have to wear our winter coats. Mommy took a picture of us playing Legos in our coats while we went shopping for new window treatments yesterday.
